Project Title: Metamorphosis Silkscreen Printmaking

Overview: Students create resist masks of a creature that can metamorphose, and then screen print with the resist image
Art Skills: Printmaking
Process: Students draw a creature which metamorphoses in its life cycle onto smaller paper. They cut the image out with spaces between features. Finally, using professional printmaking materials, students place their cut outs on their paper and ink over, revealing the image.
Materials: professional art paper, Silk Screens, Silkscreen ink

Description Summary: Today students had a special art lesson making silkscreen prints of creatures that go through metamorphosis.  They discussed the history and function of printing, drew and cut a resist “plate” and finally, printed their creatures in bright colors.
